WindTre launches SIM Green with eco-friendly packaging

As part of its green initiative plan, WindTre presented its ‘Green SIM’, made by Thalesa company that produces Eco-SIM with 100% recycled plastic material through a production process that eliminates carbon dioxide emissions and which, thanks to the carbon offset program, guarantees carbon neutral certification.

The plastic of this WindTre Green SIM is entirely made from polystyrene recycled from the disposal of old refrigerators, with a form of reuse of the raw material with a low ecological impact. For the distribution of these SIM cards, WindTre has foreseen an eco-compatible packaging, of small dimensions and derived from FSC paper to reduce waste.

“WindTre undertakes every day to implement its sustainability strategy in line with the objectives defined in its ESG 2030 plan. This initiative is one of those implemented in the green field, to protect the planet and the quality of life in all its aspects” explained Fabrizio De Lorenzo, WindTre’s Mobile & Home Devices Director, adding: “Through the innovative ‘green SIMs’ the company intends to reduce the environmental impact and offer a further opportunity to improve customer service also in terms of sustainability.”

WindTre’s new eco-sustainable SIM is available in WindTre stores from 10 February 2022.

TIM launched its Green SIM in 2020while Vodafone launched its Eco-SIM in 2021.
