In the Italian Pavilion of Expo 2020 in Dubaion February 7th, a live demo of TINALPthe platform of Mixed Reality developed by the technology company FifthIngenium with the support of Vodafone Italia. In fact, FifthIngenium was the winner of the third edition of “Action for 5G”, The call from Vodafone Italia dedicated to startups, small and medium-sized enterprises and social enterprises that want to contribute with their ideas and projects to the development of 5G in Italy.
The event of 7 February saw the protagonist Fernando Zaronefull professor of the Department of Neuroscience, Reproductive and odontostomatological sciences of the University of Naples Federico II, who gave a demonstrative lesson to the present public and to his students connected from Italy on how Mixed Reality is not a futuristic concept and on how it can reshape the very concept of learning presenting itself as a very practical means to strengthen, improve and facilitate institutions, teachers and students in sharing and acquiring knowledge and skills.
Wearing viewers Microsoft Hololens 2 or Nreal Light, looking at their smartphone or, again, following the live streaming coming from the teacher’s device, students and participants were able to see 2D and 3D data of two different complex cases of patients treated by Professor Zarone. The interaction was made possible by the proprietary 3D synchronization technology incorporated in TINALP, designed to allow synchronization between people in the same physical environment and those connected remotely while also exploiting the performance of Vodafone 5G to improve the quality of their content and benefit simplified configurations and installations thanks to the Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) architecture.
