top specs and Hasselblad camera

OPPO was the most improved Android smartphone manufacturer in 2021 and has no intention of slowing down: yesterday we told you about the upcoming arrival of the Reno7 5G series on the international scene, but also about OPPO Find X5 Pro among the protagonists of the new episode of NewSmartphone and it is precisely the latter that we are dealing with here.

OPPO Find X5 Pro: name, launch and heavy legacy

According to the rumors that have emerged so far, the OPPO Find X5 series, which will obviously be headed by the Pro model, will be officially announced at the end of the month of February 2022.

As we had already mentioned previously, the name will in all likelihood be just that, because in China the number 4 is considered a bad omen (its pronunciation is similar to that of the word “death”) and already other manufacturers before OPPO they chose to skip it.

OPPO Find X5 Pro will have a heavy legacy to collect, given that its predecessor OPPO Find X3 Pro (of which you can find our review at this link) was one of the most successful premium smartphones of the previous generation, also thanks to an apt design and distinguishable and some peculiarities that have made it unique.

OPPO Find X5 Pro: technical specifications and images

The design from OPPO Find X5 Pro it will be very similar to the much appreciated one of the previous model. To tell the truth, it would not even be necessary to resort to these concepts created by graphic designer Parvez Khan, aka Technizo Concept for LetsGoDigital (link in source), since we have already shown you the first live photos of the glittering next OPPO flagship.

The most significant changes compared to the predecessor can be seen on the rear body of OPPO Find X5 Pro, where the writing is present MariSilicon, which refers to the new proprietary NPU of the Chinese house which should be responsible for great improvements for the imaging sector: from the ability to process RAW files without loss of quality, to 4K AI Night Video videos complete with real-time preview.

On the back of the smartphone, the concepts also clearly highlight the words “Hasselblad”Next to the OPPO logo and here a clarification is needed. Last year we told you about the OPPO-OnePlus merger and more recently also about the next unified OS. A greater sharing of technologies has resulted from this improvement, just think of the fact that OnePlus 10 Pro no longer uses the usual Warp Charge, but OPPO’s SuperVOOC and AirVOOC. Well, this sharing will not happen in one direction only, therefore the collaboration with Hasselblad, which began last year with the OnePlus 9 and continued this year, will also be put to good use on the top of the range brands OPPO, the Find X5 in fact. Presumably the collaboration will touch the color calibration and maybe the new Hasselblad Pro Mode with RAW + on OPPO Find X5 Pro (seen on OnePlus 10 Pro).

As for the technical specifications of the photographic sector, OPPO Find X5 Pro should be equipped with a 32MP selfie camera with Sony IMX709 sensor and triple rear camera with: 50MP Sony IMX766 main sensor with OIS; 32 MP ultra-wide with the same Sony IMX709 sensor seen on OPPO Reno7 Pro; 13MP telephoto lens with Samsung S5K3M5 sensor. In short, goodbye to the microscope camera that made last year’s model unique.

As for the rest of the specifications, in all likelihood OPPO Find X5 Pro will have a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 2K resolution and will be of type LTPO 2.0, allowing an adaptive refresh rate 1-120 Hz. The screen is curved at the edges and has the usual hole for the camera. Under the display there is obviously the fingerprint sensor. The power and volume keys are on the right side and on the lower one there is a microphone (another is on the upper side), speaker, SIM compartment and USB-C port. To keep company with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (the OPPO Find X5 model should have a MediaTek Dimensity 9000) there will be currently unknown memory cuts and obviously 5G connectivity. For the battery we are talking about 5000 mAh with SuperVOOC wired fast charging at 80 watts and wireless at 50 watts (and perhaps even reverse at 10 watts). The IP68 certification will not be missing.

As for the software, the presence of Android 12 and ColorOS 12 is granted out of the box, the manufacturer is expected to grant updates to Android 13 and Android 14.

The OPPO Find X5 series should include three models, with a Find X5 Lite alongside the Find X5 and Find X5 Pro cited. The latter, according to leaked photos, will come in white, blue and black. Last year OPPO Find X3 Pro was launched at € 1,149.99, the price of the new model should not be very different (a little will also depend on the proposed memory cuts).
