The BISON GT2 series brings 5G among UMIDIGI’s rugged phones


UMIDIGI fans were eagerly awaiting the arrival of the first rugged phone of the Chinese brand and the long wait paid off. The manufacturer has in fact announced the imminent arrival on the international markets of the series UMIDIGI BISON GT2which among others will also include a model with 5G connectivity.

There will be four smartphones destined to make up the new series, two with 4G connectivity and two with a chipset equipped with a 5G modem. It will take a few more weeks for the magnificent four to arrive on the market, which will be officially on sale from midnight on February 21st. Waiting to know them, let’s find out all the most interesting details.

The UMIDIGI BISON GT2 series

The four smartphones largely share the technical data sheet, with the only differences represented by the chipset used, different for the 4G and 5G versions, and for the amount of memory which represents the only difference between the standard versions and the Pro versions. therefore there is one 6.5-inch FullHD + screen with 90 Hz refresh rate and solution punch hole to house the front camera.

Other common features include the triple rear camera, with a 64 megapixel (f / 1.8) main sensor flanked by an 8 megapixel ultra wide angle (FoV 117 degrees) sensor and a 5 megapixel sensor for macro photos. On the front of the smartphone there is instead a 24 megapixel sensor (f / 2.0) for selfies.

The battery is also excellent, which on all four models has a capacity of 6,150 mAh and is supported by fast charging at 18 wattsto drastically reduce the charging times of the device. Also noteworthy are the IP68 and IP69K certifications, in addition to the MIL-STD810G one which guarantees resistance to drops from 1.8 meters and use in the military field.

The two versions equipped with 5G connectivity can count on the MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipsetwith a 6-nanometer production process, which brings with it, in addition to cellular connectivity, also WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and dual-frequency GPS for greater positioning accuracy. To complete the technical equipment we also find the side fingerprint reader, the infrared thermometerFM radio (no need to plug in headphones) and dual microphone for noise cancellation.

As for the 4G variants the choice fell on a MediaTek Helio G95the same already seen on BISON GT, with WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5 and single frequency GPS. Both 4G and 5G models also include support for GLONASS, Beidou and Galileofor maximum reliability and versatility. There is no lack of NFC technology for mobile payments and a USB Type-C connector for charging.

As for memory, all models use LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 internal memory: the two “standard” versions have 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory, while the Pro versions are equipped with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB internal memory. For all there is a microSD slot that allows you to accommodate cards with capacities up to 512 GB.

Finally, the presence of Android 12 on board the 4G versions of UMIDIGI GT2 should be emphasizedwhile the 5G variants will receive the latest version of the green robot via an OTA update which will be released in the weeks following the launch.
