new software dedicated to hybrid work is coming

Google Workspace has announced several updates related to Google Meet, Chat and Voice to meet the needs of today’s modern hybrid way of working. Let’s take a look at all of the Announcements coming to various Google Workspace software.

Google Workspace: here are all the news

Google Meet updates

  • In-meeting reaction. Coming next month, in-meeting reactions will allow attendees to express themselves visually with emojis. Fast and engaging, they help teams celebrate victories and offer support, all while adding an extra layer of personalized engagement.
  • Meet on Docs, Sheets and Slides. Born in the cloud and designed for maximum flexibility and collaboration, Docs gives you the ability to comment and work together. Bringing collaborators to Meet directly into Docs for real-time work sessions reinforces the collaborative power of Docs for the hybrid era.
  • Picture-in-picture. We will introduce picture-in-picture in Meet on the Chrome browser to allow presenters and multitaskers to see their audience as they navigate different tabs and windows. Clicking on picture-in-picture quickly returns to the complete Meet screen.
  • Automatic noise cancellation on Google Meet hardware. If the sound quality is not optimal, the quality of a meeting decreases. Whether background noise is coming from your desk or the office, everyone should be able to limit distractions during a meeting.
  • Companion mode updates. The ability to view your own video window while using Companion mode will be integrated to make it easier for participants to see the expressions and gestures of those joining a conference room. This update will allow those in a physical space to have the same experience as those who work remotely – major innovations have been released that have helped people work remotely, and we want to ensure access to these experiences for people. when they return to the office.
  • Q&A and polls for livestream participants. With the rise of hybrid and remote working, meetings can be large, and you want to give people access to the tools they need to participate and maintain an interactive experience from anywhere, including livestreams.
  • Stream meetings directly to YouTube. Later in the year, the organizers will be able to broadcast the meetings directly on YouTube from the Meet activity sheet.
  • Security in meetings. In May, optional client-side encryption will be introduced in Google Meet, and optional end-to-end encryption will be available for all meetings later this year.

Google Chat updates in Spaces

  • In-line threading in Spaces. With In-line threading, conversations will be more fluid, while maintaining the broader context, that of a space that allows for deeper and more targeted collaboration.
  • Spaces that can be shared and discovered. With an easy and immediately intuitive flow – similar to sharing documents – it will be even easier to build and discover communities within organizations. Search within Chat and Spaces will be improved to bring out the most relevant files and conversations, and filter chips will be brought into chat search results throughout the year.
  • Increased team size limits. To bring the power of Spaces to organizations of all sizes, team size limits will be extended to 8,000, and then increased to 25,000 by the end of this year to support communities as they grow.
  • User roles and moderation. A strong team culture is built on trust and psychological security. That’s why we will add features that improve content moderation, the ability to designate managers and guidelines for specific Spaces, and new administrative features to clear Spaces.

Google Voice updates

  • SIP Link: Coming later this year, SIP Link will allow customers to connect SIP trunks from their telecom operator via Audiocodes, Cisco, Oracle and Ribbon certified session card controllers.
  • Call recording on demand: On-demand call recording will be available next month for Google Voice Standard and Premium subscribers.
  • Automatic call recording: Premium subscribers will have the added benefit of automatic call recordings, a major demand from customers operating in regulated industries.

Definitely a plethora of very interesting news for Google Workspace and which we do not doubt will improve the overall service.
