Huawei does not intend to give up in Europe and, although in recent times its presence in the smartphone sector has not been the most conspicuous – the our vote at the end of 2021 could not have been more precise -, is planning the launch in the Old Continent of the most recent flagships of the P50 series: the presumed European prices of Huawei P50 Pro and Huawei P50 Pocket and they are not low, quite the contrary.
The news of the arrival in Europe of the Huawei P50 series – will all models arrive? At the moment it is not known – unsurprisingly, however the Chinese manufacturer is still dealing with the consequences of the US ban, therefore even these models will be without Google services (replaced by HMS and the AppGallery store) and will not be able to use Qualcomm components with 5G connectivity.
These limitations, according to what is learned, will not prevent Huawei from charging premium smartphone prices, both for the Pro model of the series and for the clamshell folding. In short, not exactly the best way to get back into the smartphone market.
According to a well-known person leaker (link in source), Huawei P50 Pro will be launched in Europe with a list price of 1,199 euros. The folding Huawei P50 Pocket, fresh off the official presentation, should instead exceed the ceiling of 1,600 euros: the starting price reported is 1,622 euros, which clearly will not be the official list.
In both cases, although it is a premium range smartphone, the aforementioned big limits remain which, combined with the leaked prices, risk compromising the attractiveness of the Huawei flagships from the start. To say, it may be very difficult to recommend the purchase of Huawei P50 Pocket when its direct rival, the excellent Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G (here is our review) starts from a significantly lower list price and is now regularly found below the 1,000 euros.
