Xiaomi, like practically every other brand in circulation, integrates a function into the camera of its devices Watermark which – in other words – marks the photos with the name of the smartphone that took them. Since they too make use of MIUI, the same is also valid for all Redmi and POCO devices (which also recently expressed the desire to create a lighter version for less performing smartphones).
Furthermore, on all devices equipped with MIUI, the Watermark function is enriched with further possibilities: the manufacturer provides, in fact, the option to have date and time of the same and even goes so far as to allow users to customize the watermark.
If some users might like the addition of such information – and any customizations, such as a sort of signature (the possibilities are too limited to talk about real watermarks) -, this quick guide is aimed at all those who prefer to keep their photos clean and free from any writing.
Since on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices there is both the possibility of deactivating first the Watermark that to remove it post-shot, the following guide will be divided into two parts. So let’s see how to remove the watermark, the writing in this case, from the photos of Xiaomi’s smartphones.
How to disable the Watermark on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices
Let’s start to see how turn off the Watermark even before taking pictures, so that the writings do not appear at all. Here are the few simple steps to follow:
- Open the application Camera.
- Click on the button menu in the upper right corner (the one with the three horizontal lines).
- Select the item Settings.
- In Camera settings, select Watermark.
- In the Watermark submenu, disable the two present toggles (“Add date and time to photos” And “Device watermark“).
If, on the other hand, you want to activate the watermark and / or the date and time information, follow the same path and activate the desired toggle (once the “Device watermark“, You can enter the submenu”Customize Watermark”And enter a text of your choice, including emojis).
The following screenshots show all the necessary steps.
How to remove the writing from the photos already taken on Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO
Perfect, we have deactivated the watermark function of the MIUI camera and from now on in your shots the unsightly written ones will no longer appear, let’s now move on to the second scenario. Let’s say that you have already taken photos with the watermark active and that, not appreciating it, you want to remove it.
The most radical solution could be to delete the photo, deactivate the watermark and then take a new one. This might be fine for a photo you just took, however this isn’t always the case. Alternatively, you could always crop the photo in such a way as to exclude the writing from the crop.
Fortunately, none of these solutions are really necessary, because MIUI directly offers all Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO users a simpler and more effective remedy. Just follow the few simple steps below:
- Open the application Tunnel.
- Once identified, open the photo that you intend to modify.
- Click on the button Edit (it is the second icon from the left, the square with the pencil).
- Select the writing you want to remove (the selected writing can be distinguished from the dashed rectangle that includes it).
- Select the item Remove watermark at the top center (between Cancel and Save).
- Finally, select Save.
In the following screenshots you can see an example of a shot taken with both the watermark and the writing with the date and time of the photo active, the steps to follow to remove them and the final result, with the photo (it’s a super macro) free from unnecessary writing. .
