HBO Max expands to Europe, to 15 more countries from March 8, 2022

HBO Max, WarnerMedia’s premium streaming platform hosting content from Warner Bros., HBO, DC, Cartoon Network, Max Originals and more, announced expansion to 15 additional European countries on March 8, 2022, including let’s say right away that there is no Italy. These new countries will join those where the service is already available, namely the United States and some countries in Latin America, Europe and the Caribbean. HBO Max has been available in Spain since October 2021.

More specifically, the 15 countries where HBO Max will be available from 8 March 2022 are: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia , Slovakia and Slovenia.

With HBO Max currently active in 46 territories in the Americas and Europe, with expansion imminent in the countries listed above, the service will be available as of March 8, 2022 in a total of 61 countries. WarnerMedia’s plan is to make HBO Max available globally, and it has predicted that it will expand to six other European countries by the end of the year, including Greece and Turkey. We do not know, at the moment, if even in Italy.

Christina Sulebakk, General Manager of HBO Max EMEA, said: “HBO Max is a new streaming experience that offers the best in entertainment, movies, original series and children’s shows from Warner Bros., HBO, DC, Cartoon Network, Max Originals and more. We are thrilled to confirm that HBO Max will arrive in 15 other European countries on March 8 as we continue to make the platform available across the continent and beyond. “

HBO Max is considered Disney Plus, a no-strings paid streaming platform that allows access to the catalog of content it offers – Warner Bros., HBO, DC, Cartoon Network, Max Originals and more. HBO Max is an interesting service as it comes to host the new Warner Bros. movies just 45 days after their theatrical release. Among the titles that have benefited from this new homevideo distribution model are The Matrix Resurrections, Dunes, King Richard, The Suicide Squad And Tom & Jerry. Among the new exclusive Max Originals content are Station Eleven, Peacemaker, Raised by Wolves season 2 and Sex Lives of College Girls. Among the European Max Original contents coming to the platform are Todo Lo Otro, Kamikaze, Lust, Ruxx, The Thaw, The Informant and Garcia !. The platform also hosts non-scripted content with Expecting Amy, Finding Magic Mike, FBoy Island and Selena + Chef. The streaming platform also hosts content for children and teens, including Teen Titans Go!, The Amazing World of Gumball, Looney Tunes Cartoons.

HBO Max features include the ability to create up to five profiles per account, no limit on recordable devices per account but viewing up to three simultaneous streams, 5.1 surround sound and, for select titles, Dolby Atmos and 4K resolution. The service is accessible on major devices and platforms, including smart TVs (Samsung, LG and Android TV), via streaming devices (Apple TV 4K and Google Chromecast), game consoles (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S), mobile devices and tablets (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android) and via web browser at HBO Max will also be available through select TV partners. The subscription to the service can be subscribed through the main online payment methods (VISA, Mastercard and PayPal) and through in-app purchase (Apple App Store, Google Play Store and through Samsung Checkout).

Johannes Larcher, Head of HBO Max International, said: “The global launch of HBO Max continues apace as we roll out the platform in 15 other European countries, taking us to 61 territories around the world. We are implementing our strategy to connect directly to consumers around the world which, together with our beloved content, will give us the chance to become one of the best global streaming platforms. ”

When HBO Max will arrive in Italy we do not know. The delay could be due to licensing deals with Sky, which currently hosts many of the new Warner content that HBO distributes internationally and, conversely, HBO Max distributes Sky Original productions in the United States such as Gomorrah – The Series.
