Garmin presented a new product in its wearable line dedicated to diving: Descent G1a dive computer with profiles dedicated to six different underwater activities, 24-hour physical condition monitoring, smart options and also available in a version with support for solar charging.
Built with a high contrast display 23mm in diameter and with a resolution of 176×176 pixels inside a 45mm case, Descent G1 is made with fiber-reinforced polymer coatinginductive buttons waterproof, lens in sapphire crystalwaterproof to 10 ATM (100 meters) and compliance with EN133319 standards to withstand underwater exploration as well as surface activities.
Descent G1 has an autonomy of up to 25 hours in dive mode, up to 3 weeks in smartwatch mode and up to 4 months in smartwatch mode for solar-powered models. Features available for all types of diving, offering multiple modes including single and multiple gas modes (with air, nitrox, trimix and pure oxygen), gauge, freediving, spearfishing and rebreather. For orientation while diving, a 3-axis digital compass and vibrating depth alerts are available.

Directly on the wrist, Descent G1 displays data such as depth, dive time, temperature, NDL / TTS, ascent / descent rate, tissue nitrogen load, gas mix, PO2, decompression stop and more. It is possible to choose which information to see on the display, both in terms of data and layout.
Descent G1 allows you to analyze in detail each dive activity, including maximum depth and bottom time. Indeed, the wearable can also monitor apnea metrics such as ascent and descent speed, information that can be viewed at a later time both on the watch and on the Garmin Dive app, compatible with Android and iOS, this is also useful for configuring settings from the smartphone and also for planning the next trip through a database of popular dive sites, rated and reviewed by other users.
Descent G1 also offers tools to monitor your physical state, including advanced sleep quality monitoring, as well as to track outdoor and indoor sports activities (including swimming, hiking, running, cycling, golf, yoga and surfing. ) with VO2 Max estimate, Fitness Age, training status, recovery time, HIIT workouts and daily suggested workouts. For surfers, the Surfline widget is integrated which can provide a visual representation of information on tide, wave height, wind and surf quality rating.

Out of the water, Descent G1 can handle contactless payments via Garmin Pay, show smart notifications from the connected smartphone, view incoming calls, calendar appointments and more. Using the Connect IQ app on your phone, you can customize watch faces, data fields, apps and widgets. Descent G1 can also detect accidents or accidental falls thanks to an internal sensor: through Garmin Connect Mobile, a message is automatically sent to the emergency contacts showing the name and position.
At sea, where the absence of a signal prevents communication with the smartphone, Descent G1 can be combined with a satellite communicator inReach Mini 2 for sending and receiving messages from the wrist and requesting help through the appropriate SOS button. To take the inReach Mini 2 with you while diving and use it as soon as you return to the surface, a special diving case is available (sold separately).
