You are changing your smartphone and you want to know which ones are best LG smartphones? You have ended up in the right place because in this guide, updated for the month of April 2021, find the best models of the South Korean manufacturer.
We decided not to divide the offers by price range as some would have remained empty and others more crowded, so you will find a selection of best LG smartphones. Before finding out what they are, however, let’s explain how we chose them among those proposed by the Asian manufacturer.
How we choose the best LG smartphones
First of all, in our ranking you will find only LG smartphones already on sale on the Italian market, so for the news you will have to wait for the marketing in our country. This is to guarantee you the best possible assistance, both pre-sales and after-sales.
Obviously the price / performance ratio is a first discriminating factor, which in some cases leads us to recommend more “dated” smartphones but which are still valid from a technical point of view and which have undergone significant price cuts. All the models in this guide have been personally tested by us, in order to guarantee their quality.
We verify that the components are adequate, so you will not find underpowered batteries, ultra-low resolution screens or other parts that looked good on models from a few years ago. The software also has its weight, the smartphone must be responsive and must receive system updates with some regularity.
The best LG smartphones
The new LG entry level arrived on the Italian market in November 2019, in two different colors and an attractive price. The poorly optimized lower bezel leads to important dimensions (156.3 x 73.9 x 8.6 mm) despite a 6.1-inch screen. It is therefore not easy to use with one hand but the situation is still manageable. The 3,500 mAh battery guarantees excellent autonomy, thanks also to contained technical specifications. You will always arrive in the evening even on the most intense days and with a more careful use it is not impossible to reach the two days. LG K40s can count on a dual camera that combines the 13 megapixel main sensor (f2.0) with a 5 megapixel (f / 2.2) ultra wide angle sensor (FoV 117 degrees) for good quality shots thanks to the help of intelligence. artificial.
There are two colors with which LG K50s arrived in Italy at the end of 2019, at a price that places it in the medium-low range of the market. Also in this case LG has not taken great care of the optimization of the frames and thanks to the 6.5-inch screen, the dimensions are really important: 165.8 x 77.5 x 8.2 mm make control with one hand almost impossible, penalizing ergonomics. The autonomy is very good thanks to the 4,000 mAh battery which guarantees to arrive in the evening in any conditions of use, touching the two days even on busy days. There are three rear cameras, with 13 megapixel main sensor (f / 1.8), ultra wide angle (FoV 117 degrees) 5 megapixel (f / 2.2) and 2 megapixel depth sensor (f / 2.4). Good photographs taken, with the obvious limits dictated by the price range.
LG G7 Fit
LG G7 Fit entered the market at the end of 2018 in two different colors and is still interesting due to the price. The 6.1-inch screen with a large notch allows you to keep the dimensions relatively small (153.2 x 71.9 x 7.9 mm) and the weight of 160 grams is very good. The IP68 certification for water resistance should be noted. The 3,000 mAh battery does not allow you to go beyond the day of use and it is necessary to take some precautions in the case of particularly intense use. In the back there is a single 16 megapixel (f / 2.2) camera that performs well only during the day but which shows its limitations as the light goes down. The front one is better, with f / 1.9 aperture for discreet selfies.
LG G8s ThinQ
The non-arrival on the Italian market of LG G8 ThinQ was compensated by this LG G8s ThinQ, which has little to envy to the international version. It has been on sale in Italy since mid-2019 in two different color variants. Despite a 6.2-inch screen, the dimensions are quite small (152.3 x 72 x 8.4 mm) to the advantage of ergonomics. The large notch that houses the system called Air Gesture stands out to control the smartphone without touching the display. Not exceptional is the battery that with its 3,500 mah forces some renunciation to be able to arrive in the evening, especially with particularly intense use. With a more peaceful use it is possible to arrive in the evening, without however having a residual charge that can avoid a night recharge. The photographic sector stands out for its versatility, while losing some elements compared, for example, to LG V40. The 12 megapixel main sensor (f / 1.8) is flanked by a 13 megapixel ultra wide angle (f.24) and a 12 megapixel 2x optical zoom (f / 2.6) without optical stabilization. The results are appreciable even if it is lost in sharpness and in low-light photos.

LG G8x ThinQ
LG G8x ThinQ arrived in Italy on November 21, 2019 in a single color, with the second display included in the sales package. The dimensions are at the upper limit of usability (159.3 x 75.8 x 8.4 mm) but are still acceptable. The thickness obviously doubles using the second screen. The 4,000 mAh battery allows you to arrive in the evening with a good residual charge even on the most demanding days. using the second screen, consumption increases by 20-30% but it is still possible to arrive in the evening with very intense use. The double rear camera, with 12 megapixel main sensor (f / 1.8) and the 12 megapixel (f / 2.4) ultra wide angle (FoV 136 degrees) guarantee excellent shots, even if we are not at the levels of the top of the range of the same period, especially in night photos.
LG V50 ThinQ 5G
LG V50 ThinQ, on sale in Italy since June 2019, has tried to bring an innovation thanks to the possibility of using an optional second screen, a sort of anticipation compared to folding smartphones. Beautiful to look at and excellent in terms of materials and finishes, the smartphone lacks from the point of view of ergonomics due to a truly unique slipperiness, which tends to make it fall even from the desk. Good autonomy thanks to the 4,000 mAh battery that allows you to arrive in the evening without problems, but by adding the second screen there is a decisive collapse that allows you to barely get to two and a half hours of screens on. The photographic sector is not surprising either, with a 12 megapixel (f / 1.5) main sensor flanked by a 15 megapixel ultra wide angle (f / 1.9) and a 12 megapixel 2X telephoto lens (f / 2.4) that offers excellent results only in macro, resulting in any case more acceptable in the other conditions of use.
LG Velvet lands in Italy in June 2020, where it is on sale in three different color variants and in a single memory variant. The screen is huge, 6.8 inches, therefore the dimensions are important: 167.1 x 74 x 6.8 mm for a weight of 180 grams. Just the weight and the reduced thickness contribute to improve the ergonomics, however it is not possible to use it with one hand. The 4,300 battery is essential to ensure good autonomy, given the presence of support for 5G networks. However, it is easy to get through the day of use, even with particularly intense use and the most attentive will have no problem reaching two days. There are three rear cameras: 48 megapixel main sensor (f / 1.8), 8 megapixel ultra wide angle (FoV 120 degrees) (f / 2.2) and 5 megapixel depth sensor (f / 2.4). Very good photos with a lot of light, some inaccuracies when night falls, also due to an ineffective night mode.
