At the WWDC21, Apple had previewed for developers a series of innovations for the tvOS platform that powers its Apple TV set-top-box. Not very many but interesting nonetheless, with most now available from September 20, the day of the release of the first official build of tvOS15.
First of all, the support for Space Audio with dynamic head tracking, which works on AirPods Pro And AirPods Max when watching content in 5.1, 7.1 and Dolby Atmos: it works by analyzing the data collected by the gyroscopes and accelerometers built into the headphones and has the purpose of making it seem to the listener that the sound is coming from all around him.

In the meantime, from 7 June 2021 they are available on Apple Music the first songs in Dolby Atmosand can also be heard on Apple TV with Dolby Atmos enabled: support for Space Audio is new with tvOS 15.

Apple has also updated the Apple TV app which introduces two new lines of content. The first is called “For All of You“in which you will find suggestions for content to watch as a family, based on the interests of the selected profiles (example: if there are 4 profiles set up on the Apple TV but 3 are on the sofa, it is possible to exclude the profile of the person who is not ‘is from the suggestions.) The second new line is called “Shared with You“and collects the advice of consa watch friends.


Apple also introduced the possibility of pair two HomePod mini to Apple TV 4k to use as speaker, and with computational audio technology, speakers can reproduce immersive and balanced sound based on the content being played. Apple TV also introduces the ability to ask Siri what to watchto start playing a content simply by asking the digital assistant, ‘hands free’.


TvOS15 is available from September 20 as a free update for Apple TV and Apple TV 4k.
Note: Not all tvOS15 features may be available as early as September 20th.
