After a January characterized by few innovations, presented both at CES 2022 and in separate events, the month of February promises to be decidedly more crackling for the smartphone market. Like every last Sunday of the month, #NewSmartphone returns, our column that anticipates the news coming in the following month.

The great protagonist of the month of February will obviously be Samsung, which on February 9 will hold a new Galaxy Unpacked, the first of the year, during which it will remove the veils on the Galaxy S22 series, of which in reality there is very little to discover.

Not only Samsung, however, reconfirmed once again at the top of the sales rankings, but also the OPPO / OnePlus / Realme trio, which has numerous innovations in store, Xiaomi that could bring both the Redmi mid-range and the Xiaomi 12 series to the Italian markets We talk about it in more depth after the video.

Samsung Galaxy S22 arrives

As every year, the new Galaxy series is destined to hold its own in the Android market and the premises seem good for 2022 too. Despite the anticipations of recent months have drawn a series that is not particularly exaggerated from the point of view of novelties, the Galaxy S22 family is destined to make people talk about themselves for a long time.

The strong price will certainly be Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, which will actually bring the Galaxy Note series back to life, offering an S Pen to always have with you thanks to the special housing in the smartphone. The power will not be lacking, with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200 depending on the marketing markets, and an absolute level of connectivity.

In principle, no particular improvements are expected, with Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 + that will differ only in some details (screen and battery on all). Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will be the most gifted in all respects but it will also be the one that will require the largest outlay to end up in your pocket.

During the first Galaxy Unpacked of 2022, the new high-end tablet could also find its place, a year and a half after the presentation of the Galaxy Tab S7 series. To reveal us all (or almost (the details of the new tablet thought of none other than Amazon who painted a premium-end device, with 11-inch screen at 120 Hz, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, four speakers and support for the S Pen, which it can be magnetically attached.

The appointment with Samsung is therefore set for February 9, but do not forget to follow all the developments of the situation over the next few days, some last-minute surprises may arrive.

OPPO works on the Find X5 series

We talk about it this month even if in all probability the series OPPO Find X5 will only be announced in March. In recent days, numerous details have emerged, relating in particular to OPPO Find X5 Pro for which the official wallpapers, including live ones, are already available for download.

After the excellent result of the Find X3 series last year, with the inevitable jump of the number 4 so disliked by Chinese manufacturers, also Find X5 Pro is destined to have top features, with 120Hz AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, fast charging at 80 watts and a camera of the highest level, thanks also to the collaboration with Hasselblad who already worked last year with OnePlus, another brand of the group.

The design could be in line with that of last year, much appreciated for the solution chosen for the soft lines of the photographic sector. There should be four models in the OPPO Find X5 series, although as regards the flagship model it will be necessary to wait until the second half of 2022.

New for OnePlus

Looking forward to bringing its top of the range OnePlus 10 Pro to global markets, with an announcement scheduled for March, the Chinese manufacturer will launch two new products, one for the Indian market (OnePlus Nord CE 2) and one for the European markets (OnePlus Nord N20). In reality there are rumors, but not officially confirmed, according to which the company is thinking about Hâ‚‚OOS, which should be the perfect solution regarding the unified operating system with OPPO. It therefore seems that there will not be a convergence towards an “old” name but that the two companies will opt for something new, while remaining linked to the chemistry, which characterized the OnePlus operating system after the CyanogenMod parenthesis.

The debut of the new interface should however take place later, as Pete Lau talked about 2022 Major Android Update, which suggests a launch following the arrival of Android 13 on the market.

Realme goes all-in on 5G

Last month Realme opened the dances on the new Realme 9 series by presenting, at the moment only on the Indian market, Realme 9i which leads the way to the new series, which will have Realme 9 Pro and Realme 9 Pro + as the spearhead. These two models will mark the launch of the brand’s new strategy, which will effectively go all-in on 5G connectivity.

For the first time, one will arrive in Europe smartphone with MediaTek Dimensity 920 chipset, to continue that growth process that began in 2020 and also underlined last year, with the third quarter that saw Realme being the fastest growing 5G Android smartphone brand.

The two new top of the range, whose almost complete technical data sheet is already available, will be presented on global markets very soon. The latest rumors talking about February 15, even if at the moment there is no official confirmation from the Asian manufacturer.

Xiaomi and Redmi ready to dominate

February could also be an important month for Xiaomi, which should bring the Xiaomi 12 series to international markets, announced at the end of 2021 in China. There are still no official communications from the Asian giant, but all suggests that February is the right month to bring smartphones that could seriously worry Samsung, grappling with some unforeseen events that could delay the deliveries of some models.

The first models of the Redmi Note 11 series will also arrive in Italy in February, presented last week worldwide, with a few months delay compared to the counterparts destined for the Chinese market. It will start in mid-February with Redmi Note 11 and Redmi Note 11S while for the other two versions, Note 11 Pro and Note 11 Pro 5G, we will have to wait until March.
