According to Security Hub, there are over 10 million active modern Google Pixels

Right now smartphones Google Pixel running and updated to the latest version of the Android OS are at least ten millionto confirm this are the numbers of the dedicated application Security Hub.

Security Hub ties its debut to the newest Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro and in recent days it has crossed the milestone of ten million downloads from the Google Play Store, however there is no need to get too excited or come to hasty conclusions.

There new dashboard which can be found by entering Settings and then in the Security section belongs to the app Security Hub and has four possible statuses marked with specific colors: “No problems found” and “Security can be improved” in green, “Security may be at risk” in yellow / orange and “Security is at risk” in red.

The items listed immediately below – Find My Device, Screen lock, Advanced settings, etc. – instead, they list any problems found and help the user understand what to do to solve them.

The reason why even Google shouldn’t be too happy about the milestone of ten million downloads, however, is easy to say: as we told you months ago, the Security Hub app is no longer an exclusive of Google Pixel 6 ( here’s our review) and Google Pixel 6 Pro (here’s our review), but it’s also officially available for Google Pixel 5, Google Pixel 5a, Google Pixel 4a 5G, Google Pixel 4a, Google Pixel 4, Google Pixel 4 XL models updated to Android 12.

And in fact the app had already exceeded 5 million downloads on the Play Store in November, not many days after the announcement of its more extensive availability.

Google usually obscures these numbers for Pixel-exclusive apps (like the Google Camera), however the ten million reported as of yesterday are a rough indication of how many Android 12-updated Pixels are currently in circulation. Approximate as the smartphones mentioned above do not include Google Pixel 3, Google Pixel 3 XL, Google Pixel 3a and Google Pixel 3a XL, which are also updated to Android 12 but lack some more recent features.

These numbers wouldn’t be that interesting if Google declared official Pixel sales figures – which are doing very well lately – but sadly it doesn’t.

Security Hub it can be downloaded from the Play Store using the badge below, but only if you have a compatible smartphone.
